Alexandra Palace played host to yet another thrilling day of action at the World Darts Championship on Wednesday, with 16-year-old Luke Littler stealing the limelight thanks to his incredible debut performance. He progressed to round two with a resounding 3-0 win over Dutchman Christian Kost.

But for two-time world champion Peter Wright, it was the end of the show after he was sent packing in the opening round following a big upset that saw the unranked Jim Williams beat him 3-0.

His defeat at the raucuous Alexandra Palace came after he called himself a dark horse to win this year’s World Championship before the action had even started. It’s set to be another fascinating day in the English capital with Littler back in action in round two against Andrew Gilding while world champ Rob Cross takes on Thibault Tricole.
