F1 fans spot key personalities missing from drivers’ end of season meal
Eagle-eyed Formula 1 fans have spotted a couple of notable absentees from the drivers' end-of-year meal.
The 2023 season ended with something of a whimper as Max Verstappen claimed a record 19th Grand Prix victory in Abu Dhabi. As has become tradition, the drivers got together after the final race and went out for some food and a few drinks, though Verstappen and team-mate Sergio Perez were no where to be seen.
The Red Bull duo have been dominant all year, winning every race between them save for the Singapore Grand Prix. But that didn't stop them ducking the post-season festivities.

When a photo emerged online of the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and George Russell together at a table, fans joked that Verstappen and Perez weren't there because they'd "finished early".
"Did they not invite the Red Bull drivers? Or did they just finish 30 seconds before this pic was taken?" one X user joked. Another laughed: "Max and Sergio finished dinner before the others I presume."

"This is the kids table," another joked. "Verstappen and Perez are on the VIP section." A fourth added: "Rest of the pack so used to not seeing the Red Bull drivers that they forgot to invite them."
Others criticised Verstappen and Perez for no-showing the event. One said: "Poor form from Max and Checo," while another wrote: "Verstappen and Perez too good for the end of the season dinner I see. Up their own a****."
There's a chance the Red Bull pair were simply out of frame somewhere as subsequent snaps showed that Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who weren't in the original shot, were in fact in attendance.
